Medieval treasure hunt
Renaissance treasure hunt
Let’s discover the hidden spots in Siena. With the use of a map the students will practice how to orientate themselves in the search of streets, alleyways, palaces, fountains, monuments and other characteristic highlights of the city.
We will discover the green spots in the historical center. Visit of the medieval “Horto” (Herb Garden) of the Pecci family, one of the most famous and original in the city that still preservers it’s ancient history. Porta S.Marco, Prato di S.Agostino, l’Orto dei Tolomei, and l’Orto Botanico will be also part of our explorative stroll inside the ancient city walls.
The Francigena Route, North of Siena
Trekking from Monteriggioni to Badia Isola
Guided visit to the fortified castle of the ancient and powerful Sienese republic. The walk will be along the ancient pilgrim route, Francigena, starting in Monteriggioni and going towards Badia Isola where will will visit the ancient Abbazia SS.Salvatore e Cirino. The tour will continue by bus from Badia Isola to San Gimignano, known as an important stop along the pilgrim route. We will discover this unique town with it’s back alleyways and beautiful view points.
The Francigena Route, South of Siena
We will start with a visit of the fortified hamlet, Buonconvento and the nearby Monte Oliveto Maggiore Abbey located in a the beautiful Tuscan countryside. To complete the tour we will stop, like many pilgrims still do, in San Quirico d’Orcia to discover it’s unexpected beauties.
