The Project

The DIVALORE project is born thanks to the will to elaborate valid strategies monitoring the works of art kept in St. Augustine’s church in Siena, not only to conserve them in time but also to make them more usable.
The diagnosis represents the final aim of this research and will be obtained starting from an accurate archeometric study of the materials employed for the realisation of the frescoes and the altars.
From the data gathered it will be possible to verify the state of conservation of the abovementioned materials, to investigate the entity of the damage suffered by the single works and to plan reactivation and restoration campaigns.

Archeometry,
or rather, the scientific-analytic study of the materials of historical, archaeological and artistic interest, makes a privileged meeting place between the disciplines of humanistic character and those of a scientific and naturalistic character.
